Build with AI: From Zero to Your First App · Module 8: Finish, publish and present · Lab
Publish or Dry-Run Publishing
30 min hands-on · Core
Browser only. Publish free or dry-run every step on paper; no purchase required or expected.
Three ways to do this lab. A: the browser steps below, the main path, free with no account. B: try the same task with your own AI tool if you have one (its terms and quotas apply). C: work from the provided material and the worked solution below, which teaches the same skill. No path claims you used a live AI tool when you did not.
Objectives
- Distinguish the preview link from the production address
- Confirm HTTPS lock and write the limits line
- Record address, lock and limits or a dated plan with the same lines
Step 1
Publish free
Upload the project files to a free static host (or write each step as performed on paper: files prepared, address received, lock checked). Never enter payment details; nothing here needs buying.
publish-log.mdmarkdown PUBLISH LOG (template) --- Address: ____ (preview vs production: ____) HTTPS lock: confirmed / planned ____ Limits line: ____ Deferred purchases: ____ with reason ____Step 2
Check lock and limits
Confirm the lock in the browser. Write the limits line: free address behavior, per-browser order data, sleep or branding if any. Defer custom domains explicitly with a reason.
Step 3
Announce honestly
Write the one-paragraph announcement: what it is, the address, the limits. No hype words, no unwarranted claims.
How to confirm it worked
- Preview versus production labeled correctly
- HTTPS lock confirmed or dated-planned
- Limits line written and visible near the project
- Announcement honest with address plus limits

Hints, in three stages
Stage 1: a nudge
If the host gives a preview link first, write it down as preview, then find the stable production address. They differ.
Stage 2: a direction
No lock, no launch. A missing lock on a custom setup stops everything until fixed.
Stage 3: almost the answer
Purchases follow businesses. Coursework ships free with limits stated.
Worked solution (open after an honest attempt)
Worked solution. Address recorded as production with preview noted separately. Lock confirmed in the browser. Limits line: 'Free address, may sleep; order data stays in the visitor's browser on this device.' Custom domain deferred: 'not purchased; revisit when daily trade needs it.' Announcement: one paragraph, what plus address plus limits, zero hype.
