Apply a Git Change via Reconciliation
45 min hands-on · Core
A local KinD or k3d cluster with a lightweight GitOps agent watching a local git repo (or a faithful simulation the record names explicitly).
Local guide: run the steps below on your own machine in order, then check the validation list.
Objectives
- Merge a declared change and watch the agent converge it
- Read sync status and health as the change lands
- Revert through git and watch the loop restore the prior state
Step 1
Merge and converge
Commit a replica-count change to the watched path. Quote the agent detecting it, applying it, and reporting healthy sync status.
Step 2
Hand-edit and watch drift
Edit the live object by hand. Quote the drift report (OutOfSync with the diff) within the agent's interval.
Step 3
Revert through git
Revert the original commit, watch reconciliation restore the prior state, and record the full arc: commit, converge, drift, revert, converge.
How to confirm it worked
- Commit quoted with the converged healthy state
- Drift report quoted with its diff
- Revert arc recorded end to end through git
