Docs search drill

20 min hands-on · Core

Browser Kubernetes plus kubernetes.io/docs open in a second tab.

Two ways to do this lab: in your browser on Killercoda (free, no install), or on Play-with-Kubernetes as a free practice field. The Killercoda button opens in a new tab; this study page stays here. Killercoda runs one free scenario at a time: if you see a waiting queue, close other Killercoda tabs and wait a minute.

Objectives

  • Find any resource field in the official docs in under 60 seconds
  • Copy a working example straight from the docs into the cluster
  1. Step 1

    Timed search

Pick three fields you do not know by heart (for example `topologySpreadConstraints`, `startupProbe`, `volumeClaimTemplates`). Time how long each takes to find on kubernetes.io/docs. Repeat until every lookup is under a minute.

  2. Step 2

    Docs to cluster

Take one Pod example from the docs, apply it unchanged, then modify exactly one field and re-apply. Record which page each example came from.

How to confirm it worked

  • Three timed lookups all under 60 seconds
  • One docs example applied unchanged, one field modified and re-applied
