Do Cost and Capacity Math on Given Assumptions

45 min hands-on · Core

A local machine with a fixture request path and the provided assumption price sheet (dated, labeled training assumptions). No real provider prices anywhere.

Local guide: run the steps below on your own machine in order, then check the validation list.

Objectives

  • Compute per-request cost per hop from the assumptions
  • Compare two options on identical assumptions
  • Name the deciding assumption with a sensitivity note
  1. Step 1

    Price the path

Take the fixture path (three hops with traffic, transfer and reservation figures) and the assumption sheet. Compute per-request cost per hop and name the expensive hop with quoted numbers.

  2. Step 2

    Compare honestly

Compare the sticker-cheap option against the current shape on identical assumptions (same traffic, headroom, growth). Quote the ranking and show transfer deciding it.

  3. Step 3

    Write the sensitivity

Name which assumption decides the ranking and how far it must move to flip it. Date and label every price as a training assumption in the record.

How to confirm it worked

  • Per-hop math quoted with the expensive hop named
  • Option comparison on identical assumptions quoted
  • Sensitivity note with the flip point
  • Prices dated and labeled training assumptions
