Browser Kubernetes (Killercoda 1-node) or Play-with-Kubernetes; no local installs.
Two ways to do this lab: in your browser on Killercoda (free, no install), or on Play-with-Kubernetes as a free practice field. The Killercoda button opens in a new tab; this study page stays here. Killercoda runs one free scenario at a time: if you see a waiting queue, close other Killercoda tabs and wait a minute.
Objectives
- Generate Pod, Deployment and Service YAML from imperative commands
- Edit only the differing fields inside valid generated structure
- Validate with dry-run before every real apply
Step 1
Three files, zero typing
Produce Pod, Deployment and Service manifests using only `kubectl create ... -o yaml --dry-run=client` redirected to files. Hand-typing YAML is forbidden this round.
Step 2
Edit the difference
Add resource requests and one environment variable to the Deployment file. Apply with `--dry-run=client` first for validation, then for real, and verify the running pod carries both.
How to confirm it worked
- Three manifests generated, zero hand-typed
- Dry-run validation run before the real apply
- Resources and env var confirmed on the live pod
