Timed task loop

25 min hands-on · Core

Browser Kubernetes (Killercoda 1-node) or Play-with-Kubernetes; no local installs.

Browser guide: run the steps below in the linked cluster in order, then check the validation list.

Objectives

  • Run a harvest pass: three micro tasks, five minutes each, timer visible
  • Verify every task with a type-matched read before moving on
  • Practice the stuck rule: flag at fifteen minutes, never grind
  1. Step 1

    Micro one: create and expose

Create a 2-replica nginx Deployment named sprint-one, expose it on port 80, confirm endpoints exist. Timer starts now; five minutes max.

  2. Step 2

    Micro two: configure

Create a ConfigMap named sprint-config with two keys, mount it as env vars into a pod named sprint-two, exec into the pod and print both values. Five minutes max.

  3. Step 3

Micro three: scale and verify sweep

Scale sprint-one to 4 replicas, then run the sweep: pods plus logs for the workloads, service plus endpoints for the exposure, env read for the config. Record every read.

How to confirm it worked

  • Three micro tasks finished inside five minutes each
  • Every task closed with its verification read, all recorded
  • Nothing hand-typed that a generator could produce
